February 11, 2008 – Minnetrista, Minnesota – Nicholas Thomley announced his candidacy for State Representative from District 33A today. District 33A serves the cities of Loretto, Independence, Maple Plain, Medina, Spring Park, Mound, St. Bonifacius and Minnetrista. Thomley is the CEO and founder of Pinnacle Services, Inc., a local social services organization providing care for persons with disabilities and older adults. He is currently seeking the DFL endorsement for his campaign.
Thomley plans to focus on several key issues throughout the course of his campaign, including increasing support for alternative energy resources and other environmental concerns, furthering the capability of mass transit in the metro area, and improving healthcare options for Minnesota residents. The 28-year old entrepreneur has been recognized by several national and local publications for his contribution to the human services industry. A dedicated environmentalist, Thomley has promoted eco-friendly practices within his company since its inception.
“We must work harder to ensure the sustainability of our great state and decrease our dependence on manufactured energy,” Thomley stated. “Minnesota needs to explore more tax incentives for individuals and families that practice energy conservation, as well as support businesses that show a true commitment to environmentally-friendly practices.” Thomley added that further investments in mass transit and other commuter options would also be agenda priorities.
Thomley is no stranger to public service. In 1999 he founded Pinnacle Services, Inc. to provide housing services to people with developmental disabilities. Pinnacle Services and its affiliated companies currently serve over 1,000 disabled individuals and seniors in the state of Minnesota. Thomley is also the CFO of Prospect Services, Inc., a 501c3 non-profit organization that provides support services to parents of children with mental health diagnoses. In this role he has worked tirelessly as an advocate for children with mental health concerns
Thomley’s campaign will have a strong focus on healthcare issues, where his extensive experience in human services will be invaluable in designing future key legislation in this area. “We are facing what will soon be a crisis in our state and our nation,” Thomley stated. “Our healthcare system is grossly under prepared to handle our aging population. We must improve our healthcare system so that our seniors can access prescription drugs at reasonable prices and live healthy lives. Our most vulnerable citizens need our support and in the House of Representatives I will work to make this a reality.”
Thomley holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Organizational Management and Communication and a Masters in Business Administration. He completed the Entrepreneurs’ Organization (EO) sponsored “Birthing of Giants” program at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Thomley has served on a number of committees with local and state government as well as advocacy organizations. He frequently speaks at local, national and international colleges and universities and currently sits on the Advisory Board of the Augsburg College Masters of Business Administration program. Thomley currently lives with his wife Angela and son Mason in Minnetrista, Minnesota.
