Education

Our children are our future.  They are our workers of tomorrow, our future entrepreneurs, public servants and leaders.  Our public education system must be one that provides children with opportunities to learn and grow in new ways so that they can lead this country in the future.  Minnesota is currently under funding its schools and requiring mandates without the funding to support them.  We must adequately fund our schools, improve teacher pay and keep Minnesota schools some of the very best in the nation.

"Every Minnesotan deserves the opportunity to attend college if they choose."

At the college level, University of Minnesota students are facing double digit increases.  I understand the value of education and have personally sought to continue to better myself through education. which has helped me grow both personally and professionally.  Every Minnesotan deserves the opportunity to attend college if they choose.

As tuition increases students are forced to take more student loans.  Interest rates for student loans are becoming excessively high and are putting many young Minnesotans in debt that will take most of them years to recover from.  I support increasing financial aid to students that qualify for assistance and capping interest rates on student loans at a reasonable rate.

I am running for the House of Representatives because I will work to insure that we are providing a quality education for all of our students.  I will work to assure that students with disabilities are not left behind and that funding for our students is at the level it needs to be.  We must insure that the schools and teachers receive the necessary resources to give all of the students in Minnesota equal opportunities to succeed.
